International Festival of Nations in one of the loveliest parks in our beloved city

The date was October 10, 2026, and the place was Dondukova Garden in Plovdiv. On a beautiful sunny Saturday, people of all ages gathered for the International Festival of Nations in one of the loveliest parks in our beloved city. The organizers’ motto was “Different Cultures ~ Shared Experiences ~ One Community”. The event was organized by the British School of Plovdiv together with the Central District of Plovdiv Municipality. Teachers and parents from the British School of Plovdiv gave their time and talent to make the celebration beautiful and open to everyone. Over the years, the school has been involved in volunteering, cultural exchange, creative projects and community life.

We had the chance to meet people from England, Israel, Italy, Turkey, Ukraine, Denmark, Ghana, Scotland, Bulgaria, France, Armenia, China, Greece, Vietnam, Ireland, Germany and Spain. We listened to wonderful performances, tasted traditional dishes from each culture and admired impressive costumes. Getting to know others, people different from ourselves, was a true gift for the soul. Among those representing Bulgaria at the festival was the Agapedia Bulgaria Foundation, Plovdiv Branch, and the organizers chose to donate the funds raised at the event to support its work. Members of the Armenian scout organization Homenetmen Plovdiv, led by Margarita Demerdzhiyan, performed “Flower Power” by Eckhard Kopetzki and “Devil’s Dance” by Dobri Paliev. Students from the city’s music school, dance groups and solo performers also took the stage.

It was a beautiful celebration of the people and cultures that make our community so diverse. Smiles, warmth and good spirits were everywhere, and exhibitors and guests alike gave to and received from one another. There was care, open hearts and acceptance. Through food, music, dance, traditions, games and hands-on workshops, we immersed ourselves in the rich and varied world of our community. Finally, we want to thank our young people, who once again showed compassion, culinary talent and put their hearts into every dish they prepared. This festival showed that every community in our city matters and deserves respect. The Agapedia Bulgaria Foundation, Plovdiv Branch, would like to thank the British School of Plovdiv, our young people and all our friends for their support!
